Git... Old Dogs Learn New Tricks

- April 17th, 2008 16:04

Every now and then you see a new technology take the developer world by storm, Git recently has exploded in it’s adoption. There are a couple of interesting things to note about the widespread, fast switch to Git.

  1. Blogs spread new tech meme’s faster than ever before, and thus new technology doesn’t take as long to break through like it did 5 years ago. Rails is evidence of this as well. Rails was a blogging phenomenon as well as a web framework phenemenon.
  2. Git provides evidence that thigns we thought were staid and not prone to change can be really improved dramatically. Source code control was something I assumed wouldn’t change much, I mean how much better can it get? Well apparently, a lot better.
